WWE’s Crown Jewel took place in the States at 8:00am coming to us from Perth, Australia. The card was decent with some spectacular spots.

Here are my ratings:

  • Match 1: Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reid – A great matchup of brawn. The winner was the right choice. Jey Uso’s interference may pay off with some sort of storyline. Grade: B
  • Match 2: Women’s Crown Jewel Championship: Tiffany Stratton vs. Stephanie Vaquer – A good and decent matchup between the two. The winner, again, was the right choice. Grade: C
  • Match 3: John Cena vs. AJ Styles – This match was the spotlight match of the event. Cena and Styles – both in the twilight of their careers and both pushing 50 – put on a spectacle of wrestling. Homages were paid. Honor was given. Beautiful. Grade: A+
  • Match 4: Tag Match between Ripley/Sky vs. Kabuki Warriors – This was an upset match in my opinion. I had predicted that the Warriors would win to further the feud between them all. But, Creative decided to lay the wreath at Ripley’s feet in her home country. That’s understandable. Grade: B+
  • Match 5: Men’s Crown Jewel Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins – This match had a good measure of a lot of good stuff, though was missing the last-minute interference most would’ve been expected. (In fact, many PLE events have been missing that element lately.) The physicality was there as was the drama. Rollins won this one, though underhandedly, after first refusing it. This was a good touch showing that Rollins will likely be booted from Vision setting up a back-and-forth between him and the Brons/Heyman. Grade: A-
